Description

This type of training will benefit anyone who has to operate and use mobile elevated work platforms. IPAF courses are designed to provide knowledge on the safe and effective use of powered access equipment. They will teach learners how to operate, inspect and manage equipment.

The MEWP operator training duration varies from 1-3 days depending on candidate experience, machine complexity and number of machine categories chosen. 

The available machine categories:

  • Static Vertical (1A): Vertical personnel platforms (static)

  • Static Boom (1B, 1B+): Self-propelled booms (outriggers), trailers/push-arounds, vehicle-mounted platforms

  • Mobile Vertical (3A, 3A+): Scissor lifts, vertical personnel platforms (mobile)

  • Mobile Boom (3B, 3B+): Self-propelled booms

  • Push Around Vertical (PAV): Push around verticals

What you will learn

  • Health and safety regulations related to using MEWPs

  • How to safely operate a powered access platform including pre-use checks

  • How to identify risks involved with using the machinery and how to prevent or control them

  • All personal protection requirements to keep the operator safe

  • How to carry out tasks required safely and efficiently

End of course

Assessment: Delegates must complete a written test and a practical assessment on the relevant machine category.

Certification: On successful completion of the course delegates will receive a digital IPAF PAL card valid for 5 years.
